1870 Chickering Semi-Concert Grand Piano
This rare Chickering Semi-Concert grand has a beautiful rosewood case and impressive, Empire-style legs, and ornate pedals. The ivory and ebony keyboard is a full 88-notes. The piano will receive a full restoration, inside and out.
In our opinion, vintage Chickerings from this era are the most desirable American pianos ever made. During the 1850's through the 1870's, Chickering dominated the piano market. Their instruments were unique and ever-changing. They have a unique sound, with a bright, clear treble, and a deep, rich bass. Unlike most of the pianos made during this era, which have ornately carved Victorian cases, this instrument has an elegance which will allow it to blend into any home decor, from Empire to early Victorian.
